airstream trailer

As i have been looking into streamlining, this is an iconic piece of product and transport design, it has an aluminium shell which is exposed, so has a great shiny finish, and all the aluminium sheets and rivets are exposed. its so simple it still looks good today and doesn't look out of place today, meaning they are very desirable today. but thats what makes great design, something that doesn't age. after doing research a lot of things designed in the streamlining movement still look good today.

1950 Nash Ambassador

We are doing design roots over the next 2 weeks, looking into all different design movements. in our groups we are given different movements to study, our group has been given 'streamlining' a movement which came from art deco. whilst researching i found this car a 1950 Nash Ambassador, which is streamline to the extreme, its very flat along the side of the car, and all the lines of the car curve into each other. The front is very rounded and all the trim is angled so it can cut through the air. it looks like a very heavy car using this kind of design, but some how it just works.
