airstream trailer

As i have been looking into streamlining, this is an iconic piece of product and transport design, it has an aluminium shell which is exposed, so has a great shiny finish, and all the aluminium sheets and rivets are exposed. its so simple it still looks good today and doesn't look out of place today, meaning they are very desirable today. but thats what makes great design, something that doesn't age. after doing research a lot of things designed in the streamlining movement still look good today.

1950 Nash Ambassador

We are doing design roots over the next 2 weeks, looking into all different design movements. in our groups we are given different movements to study, our group has been given 'streamlining' a movement which came from art deco. whilst researching i found this car a 1950 Nash Ambassador, which is streamline to the extreme, its very flat along the side of the car, and all the lines of the car curve into each other. The front is very rounded and all the trim is angled so it can cut through the air. it looks like a very heavy car using this kind of design, but some how it just works.

Aston Martin One-77

I do Love this car, i like aston martins but i find them a little bit boring and understated on the suer car front of things. Where as here they have taken it to the next level. still looks very Aston Martin and have kept the main features of what an Aston Martin should feature such as the grille, headlights and the 'U' shape rear lights. I love how this is a lot more in your face and extravagant compared to the usual Aston Martins, like i love how the wings and arches protrude from the main shell of the car so much, and the massive air ducts under the headlights with the aero fins just looking like they are swallowing loads of air, which then follow onto the side of the car. it also features a full monocoque chassis and aluminium body which is handcrafted. So a special car by all accounts

Bentley EXP 9 F concept

BENTLEY EXP 9 F CONCEPT from Drivelife on Vimeo.

Here is the Bentley EXP 9 F concept 4x4, and i think this is an amazing bit of design, at first i didn't like it but it was grew on me tremendously after seeing this video. it looks just like a normal Bentley, but basically bigger and higher off the round. You have the trade mark round headlamps and enormous grille, and the typical feature lines on the side rear quarter and the rear doors, which give it that recognisable bentley look. A small detail i love on the outside, are the side vents, which incorporate the flying 'B' logo, its small touches like this that put Bentley a touch above the rest. But Then the interior is what this car is all about, its nothing short of what you would expect from bentley, it just oozes class and luxuriousness. Being a concept there are a lot of cool touches, such as the full sunroof, the stem for the rear view mirror and the wood on the rear of the seats. They have kept classic trademarks for the interior as well you still get all the beautiful wood veneers and the bullseye air vents and the wonderfully hand sewn leathers. but for a contrast they have added glass to the vents. i love how the sat nav screen blends into the centre console which is gloss black, but then it blends into walnut wood. which shows and excellent amount of craftsmanship, its touches like these that bring the whole car together and make it work, i really hope the car keeps some of these very impressive design features if it goes into production.

Lexus LFA

The Lexus LFA, one very beautiful car, even though at first i didn't think so, i thought the front looked a little awkward as it kind of looked squashed and the headlights were a odd shape, but after living in Australia and working for toyota, the dealer principal owned Lexus next door and his is LFA on display in there, and i fell in love with it, it is such a unique car, especially as Lexus don't make super cars and its very different to the ferrari and Lamborghini's at the moment. its very much built with aerodynamics and purpose in mind. it has lovely details such as the little lip spoilers above the taillights, and i love the curves of the air ducts into the rear pillar and also the rear wheels. i love how the car had a perfect combination of curves and angular lines, its not like a Lamborghini which is crazy angular. overall its an amazing car engineering and design wise.

BMW 2002

I really like this BMW 2002. its obviously not standard as it has the bumper removed and has the numberplate to the side. i just love the round headlights and the simple rounded typical BMW shaped grille in the middle, it has the boxy shape that i love, and there is no fuss, it has a real Motorsport vibe about it, its just so simple and clean.

MK1 scirocco

I do love Volkswagens, they have such a simple and clean design, they become ionic cars, such as the golf! in my opinion the original hot hatch. but this is a MK1 scirocco, a classic and the best looking scirocco of the three generations. during this time, cars has straight sharp lines, i love the long hood, how it rises high towards the back, and as its not a long car, it has like a wedge shape. giving it a sporty stance, and making it look aggressive, but not to much. making it perfect! in my opinion! I LOVE IT

MINI interiors

I'm a massive fan of MINI, as I've owned one since I could drive! I'm addicted to say the least. Have been drawing interiors this week, getting the hang of it, today i did some really loose interior sketches, instead of spending hours on one, and I'm quite happy with some of the line work, how it flows and moves.

Virgin airlines

I was shown this in my advantage+ class, and I thought this was a such a good idea. This has virgin written all over it, in my opinion virgin always stand out when it comes to design, wether its plains or trains compared to other companies in the same market. I just live the idea of having a world map made from paper airplanes and then having the paper airplanes in the air looking like they are flying out of the map. It's all white which gives a simple and a classy look, and also a nice texture/finish to the wall. Then the red arm chairs tie in to the colour which virgin use and give a good dab of colour to the room

Ice Cream Welcomes.....

Ive Always been into skateboarding, i used to do it a lot when i was younger, i longboard now, but still love skateboarding, and the clothing brand Ice Cream Founded by Pharrell Williams has just launched the Ice Cream skateboard team again!!!

1972 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV

I do like Lamborghini, i just think a lot of the new ones are just to hyped up, they are nice. its just people with no design sense and to much money but thats the new ones. But this Miura is beautiful, i love everything about it, especially the headlights, just how they are set back, and are surrounded by a round grille. some great pictures of it on the link below

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider

We all know alfa's are things of beauty, they don't seem to be the most reliable cars but who cares, at least you'll look good next to it when it has broken down. I just love the long sweeping curves along the side of the car with the low nose at the front, with the trademark triangle grille which gives the car a unique and aggressive look. I also really like the side vents which have a real aerodynamic feel to them as they move with the lines of the car, and they are also triangular which is another hint of trademark Alfa. I feel this has classic car styling, and this is they way car design should go!

Eurostar Paris – London Interior Design

This is the concept interior for the Eurostar, designed by Christopher Jenner. it stood out to me alot, it has a very retro and classy style to it, which makes you feel like your somehwere special, im guessing this is first class so the designer has done his job. things like the wooden floors also with the wood featuring on the arm and leg rests. the touches of gold on parts of the equipment and how the material on the seats is quilted giving it a real luxurious feel, also using the colour yellow to tie it in with the Eurostar logo, all nice little touches. The chairs remind me of a baby car seat, i don't know how comfortable they would be, but they look extremely nice.

Google data centre

I think this is way cool, that Google have incorprated the colours they use for there logo in there data centre, a place that i cant imagine many people see, but they have gone to the effort to make it stand out and represent the company in a different and unique way.

Columbus x Cinelli x MASH: Histogram Framsets

Im a big fan of fixed wheeled bikes and have been for a dew years now! still don't own one yet, but hopefully will one day soon. these are super rare, special edition, maybe because it costs a fortune. its based on the cinelli mash frame set, but basically had the colour scheme changed. but i love the change of colour from the grey to the satin black paint, with the splash of different colours, it seems very 90's to me with the patches of colours all integrated.its a big improvement over the original frame, which was all grey, but is still a lovely frame, but the extra colour this has just gives it that little bit more. But thats what i love, something simple with hint of colour to liven things up.

54 Alfa Romeo 2000 Sportiva by Bertone

Came across this 54 Alfa Romeo 2000 Sportiva by Bertone, and Alfa are beautiful cars, but they dont come more beautiful than this. i think this way car design should be going. the curved glass, the low sloping hood, the headlights that just flow with the curves and the taillights that help form the rear arches. even the shut lines look amazing on the car, how they just move with the shape of the car.

COOPER

Love this 'Cooper' gear shifter, it has the classic cooper text which is so recognisable, with black and white being a nice contrast making it such a nice and simple design, I like the worn down look of it showing its been used and used and has been put to good use to have some fun driving.

You Cant beat a classic Land Rover!!! the box shape, the set back grille, the protruding fenders with the round headlights, still going strong today.

R34 GTR

Came across this picture which i loved instantly, it describes the car so well, with the dark and mysterious lighting, as for people who dont know the full potential this car, its one stealthy car, its super-car quick, crazy amounts of technology that keeps it on the road, and has classic GTR stye touches such as the iconic round taillights, and i love the LED's in them. its the perfect blend of form and function together

Mini paceman

The new Mini Paceman, hate it it or love it, even though its big and will be hated my many mini purists! its a great design and an improvement over the 5 door countryman, i really like the high waist line with the sloping roof giving a much more dynamic and sporty look. with the air intakes in the lower grille, lower hood and with the sharp and pointy hood making it look aggressive and purposeful. The size and proportions also reminds me of Range rover Evoque with the small rear windows.
